If you’re a resident of the Netherlands and want to get reimbursed for Speaksee through your health insurance, you might think a prescription from a GP or audiologist is enough. However, this is not the case. Below, we explain the correct process.
Why isn’t a GP or audiologist prescription sufficient?
Under Dutch health insurance rules, only audiological centers can issue the official prescriptions required for reimbursement. GPs and audiologists can refer you to such a center but cannot provide the necessary documentation themselves.
What’s the process for Dutch residents?
- Referral: Visit your GP or audiologist to get a referral to an audiological center.
- Audiological center evaluation: At the center, your hearing will be tested, and you will undergo a mandatory trial period with Speaksee.
- Prescription: After the trial, the audiological center will issue the official prescription required by Dutch health insurers.
What’s next?
Submit your claim to your health insurance provider, including the prescription and any additional documentation required by your insurer.
